Install Guide

RatHound plugins use normal native installers. Pick your OS and follow the steps below.

macOS

  1. 01Download the macOS installer (.pkg) from your purchase email or the confirmation page.
  2. 02Double-click the .pkg and follow the installer. It puts the AU and VST3 files in the correct system folders automatically.
  3. 03AU goes to /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components, VST3 to /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3, and Standalone apps to /Applications.
  4. 04Open your DAW and rescan plugins. In Ableton, go to Preferences → Plug-Ins → Rescan. The plugin appears under its name.

The macOS builds are signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized, so you should not see "unidentified developer" warnings.

Windows

  1. 01Download the Windows installer (.exe) from your purchase email or the confirmation page.
  2. 02Run the installer. If Windows SmartScreen appears, click 'More info' → 'Run anyway'. The Windows installers aren't code-signed yet, so Windows asks you to confirm.
  3. 03The VST3 is installed to C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3.
  4. 04Open your DAW and rescan plugins. The plugin appears under its name.

The Windows installers aren't code-signed yet, so SmartScreen and some antivirus programs (Microsoft Defender included) may warn about them or flag them as a threat. It's a false positive: the installer contains only the plugin. Antivirus warnings aren't covered by refunds. See the refund policy.

That's it — no activation

There's nothing to unlock and no license key to enter. Once the installer finishes, the plugin is ready. Need it again later? Use the link in your purchase email, or request fresh links on the Downloads page.
